hi, i’m hairuo (or roo). i'm a product designer based in toronto.

currently, i’m interning at geotab and wrapping up my degree in interactive multimedia & design at carleton university.

my work spans user research, interface design, and visual identity/branding, with a focus on crafting experiences that are thoughtful, intuitive, and grounded in real human needs.

i’m especially drawn to projects that create positive social impact, whether it’s making systems more accessible, supporting communities, or helping people connect with what matters.

outside of design, you’ll find me hunt down the most delicious bites of the city, honing my creative crafts, or discovering new corners around the world.

i'm always open to new ideas, creative exchanges, or just a good conversation over an iced hojicha latte. feel free to reach out if something sparks your curiosity too! ◡̈

Right now, I’m a Design Intern at Geotab, where I’m helping to shape digital tools that make smarter, data-driven decisions (pun totally intended). In the past, I’ve worked on projects ranging from internal employee portals for Public Services and Procurement Canada to web apps connecting clients, doctors, and pharmacies at the Intelligent Innovations Lab, blending practical design with user-centered functionality.

I'm studying Interactive Multimedia & Design at Carleton University, where I learned how to bring ideas to life through code, design, and way too many cups of coffee. Along the way, I’ve dabbled in photography, singing and songwriting, indie game development, new media art and illustration, because why limit creativity to just one medium?

I’m passionate about crafting experiences that feel intuitive, thoughtful, and just a little bit magical. Whether it’s simplifying complex systems or creating moments that make users smile, I aim to design work that truly connects.

When I’m not designing, you’ll find me wandering the city, thrifting, learning new creative skills, exploring the food scene, soaking up nature, hanging out with my furry best friends (Cookie and Mochi), curating pocket-sized playlists for my friends or exploring the world.
